2nd Annual Roosevelt/Portales/Curry/Clovis Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk
Portales, NM–The 2nd annual Roosevelt/Portales/Curry/Clovis Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk is slated for Nov. 12, 2022 at 10 a.m. at ENMU’s Greyhound Arena. This event as a collaborative effort by all four of the local governments to raise both awareness and funding to support this organization’s initiatives. The addition of ENMU as an event partner ensured an ideal indoor location within the community.
“Alzheimer’s is impacting more and more lives. We encourage our communities to come out and partake in the 2nd Annual Alzheimer’s Walk to bring awareness, honor, and show our caregivers, friends and family that are fighting or have lost their battle to this terrible disease that we are fighting together for a cure,” said Curry County Manager Lance Pyle.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, these communities are raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
“Alzheimer’s is a family battle and it is personal for me,” stated Commissioner Tina Dixon. “I have two immediate family members that are in the fight. It affects everyone when it hits; and it can tear a family apart of bring it together. Once it grabs hold it doesn’t let go. The battle is never won, but you take every day, every minute at a time because the changes are fast. I will never stop fighting!”
Anyone can donate online, either under a team member to support their campaign or to the event team as a whole. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and you do not need to attend the event to donate by visiting the event page at act.alz.org/goto/curryrooseveltcountywalk.
