Portales, NM – Roosevelt County has kicked off the Summer Internship Program for local high school students. Roosevelt County is still able to place approximately 12 more students into local work environmental, and this is the last call for any additional students to sign up. Applications will be accepted through June 17. Candidates for this grant-funded internship must be 16-18 years old (or 15 years old who have a valid work permit) and residents of Roosevelt County. These interns will be employed up to 20 hours per week and paid $12.00 per hour for up to 8 weeks.
“We are excited have this Summer Intern program underway. These students are beginning to really enjoy their work opportunities and are learning valuable knowledge and skill sets with government agencies and local businesses” stated HR Coordinator Shawn Andrus. “We are still taking applications from eligible students and want to encourage them to take advantage of this great opportunity!”
Roosevelt County was awarded funding for up to 50 students. These students are being placed at various entities within Roosevelt County that have signed up to host a student intern. These entities are providing students real world, on-the-job experience to aid them in gaining employable skills and knowledge and in preparing to enter the workforce.
