Portales, NM – The County continues grant funded road improvements and will begin the following work the week of Nov. 4, 2022. South Roosevelt 7, from NM 88 to NM 206 for 3 miles; South Roosevelt Road 8, from NM 88 to NM 206 for 3 miles; South Roosevelt Road Q, from 18th Street to SRR 8 for 2 miles; South Roosevelt Road 6, from Kilgore Street to South Roosevelt Road J for 6 miles; Bingham Stratton for 1 mile; Spruce, from Hwy 70 to NM 236 for 1 mile; one-half mile of 21st Street, from South Roosevelt Road Q ½ to NM 206; one-quarter mile of South Ave. B, from Kilgore Street to 21st Street; beginning the week of Nov.4, 2022. These nine projects are expected to be completed Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, weather permitting. The County has completed approximately 32 miles of this grant project to-date.
These roadways are being enhanced from chipseal to micro-seal as per the County’s 5-year Road Improvement Plan, and are funded by the County’s Transportation Project Fund grant award of $2.7 million received this year. As the County moves forward with the roads that are on list below, the County will send additional PSAs. We ask all residents to drive slow and watch for heavy equipment and personnel.

Road Department is also working on Local Government Road Fund Projects and will begin work on South Roosevelt Road 16, from South Roosevelt Road W, one-half mile west beginning the week of Nov. 21, 2022. This project is going from dirt to caliche. This project is expect to be completed Dec. 8, 2022 weather permitting.
